The 24th match of the Big Bash League will be played between two sides that have experienced contrasting fortunes. The second-placed Sydney Sixers will take on the seventh-placed Brisbane Heat side on January 2nd, 2021.

The Sydney Sixers side has managed to hold their nerve in two of their previous games. While in the match against the Melbourne Stars, it was skipper Daniel Hughes who stole the Thunder with lightning-quick innings of 96 off just 51 deliveries, in the game against the Renegades, it was wicket-keeper Josh Phillipe and Jason Holder that saw the side home.

On the other hand, Brisbane Heat has struggled to get going in the competition. Heat has also lost skipper Chris Lynn, who injured his hamstring and will not be available for at least the next two games. The Brisbane side has managed to win just a solitary game this season. In their previous encounter against the Hobart Hurricanes, they lost a humdinger of a clash by one run. They will desperately be looking to get back to winning ways in the game against the Sixers.
